Wondering how to travel with wigs and still feel fabulous? I’ve got you covered. ✈️💁♀️
This Spring Break, we took a dreamy family vacation to Riviera Maya, Mexico and stayed at the stunning Belmond Maroma. It was the perfect mix of luxury, calm, and kid-friendly ease—and YES, I brought multiple wigs with me!
Traveling with wigs doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right prep, a few travel-friendly tips, and the right mindset, you can slay on vacation without the stress. Here’s how to travel with wigs like a pro, plus a peek at one of the most beautiful resorts we’ve ever stayed at.
If you’re planning a trip to Riviera Maya, do yourself a favor and check out Belmond Maroma. This resort is a dream—calming, elegant, and effortlessly luxurious.
It felt like our own little slice of paradise. The staff made everything feel effortless, and we truly didn’t want to leave.
Let’s talk wig travel tips! Whether you’re headed to a tropical escape or a city break, here’s what I recommend to keep your wigs looking flawless:
Pack 2-3 options: a lightweight, breathable wig for daytime and a glam one for dinners or nights out. I packed a long synthetic style for splashing around in the pool and ocean, a hat wig for lounging and a lace top human hair piece for evenings.
Store your wigs in structured travel cases or silk-lined bags to avoid tangles and flattening. Always keep your wigs with you in your carry-on or personal item, don’t pack them in checked luggage!
Beach wind + wig fibers = tangles. Toss a wide-tooth comb and travel-size detangler in your bag to stay fresh on the go.
In tropical spots like Mexico, humidity can be brutal on adhesives. I recommend glueless wigs, wig grip bands, or headband wigs instead of lace glue.
Think hats, silk scarves, big sunnies—they protect your wig and elevate your look. I rocked baseball caps poolside and a wide-brim hat for exploring.
Hang wigs from the nape on a boot clip or use a travel wig stand that you can pack flat in your luggage. Always be sure to keep your wigs in a cool, shaded spot. At Belmond Maroma, the spacious closets were perfect for keeping everything organized and protected.
Stick with styles that don’t require heat tools or a ton of upkeep. Vacation is about relaxing—not restyling every morning!
