I love makeup. I don’t know what it is, but I could spend hours in Ulta or Sephora. I’m the one that leaves the store looking like a clown because I’ve tried so many different colors and products. But when it comes to products that I use on a daily basis I find that I stick with my favorite products and favorite brands. That being said, I do like to change up some colors depending on the season. Today I’m sharing my never fail makeup favorites and a few items that I’m eyeing for Fall.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized the importance of prepping your skin for makeup. I’m obsessed with skincare but that’s something we can cover in more detail another time. One product that I absolutely love using to prep my skin is Merit’s Glow Serum. Some days when I don’t want to do a full face of makeup I use this serum followed by my moisturizer and that’s it!
I don’t typically opt for a full coverage foundation, it just feels like too much. Most days I use BareMinerals Complexion Rescue for light coverage and it has SPF 30 because don’t forget your sunscreen! If I want a little more coverage then I reach for IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Foundation with SPF 50. Sometimes when I’m feeling totally wild I mix the Complexion Rescue with the IT Cosmetics Foundation.
A good concealer can work wonders. I’ve been using Lancome’s Teinte Idole and I’m in love. It’s creamy, moisturizing and doesn’t settle into fine lines (where did those come from?!)
If there’s one makeup purchase that I made based on Instagram ads it’s the OGEE sticks and I’m so happy I was influenced. These sticks make it easy to contour, or at least my own attempt at contouring. Plus they seem to last forever.
For blush I reach for OGEE Rose Quartz or lately I’ve been loving Merit’s Flush Balm. I love the packaging, it’s easy to apply and it gives you that perfect amount of color without overdoing it. I currently use the color Stockholm, but have my eye on Apres and Cheeky for fall.
Next up let’s talk brows. In 8th grade I got a hold of a pair of tweezers and went to town. I’ve been trying to grow them in ever since. I just read an article that the thin eyebrow trend of the 90s may be making a come back. I’m sure anyone who grew up in the 90s will not be hopping on that trend, we know better. Anyway, my absolute favorite eyebrow powder is ME Cosmetics Ultimate Scalp Foundation. It’s a multi use powder that I use to help cover thinning areas on my scalp, I use it to blend my lace on the sides of my wig and I use it every single day on my brows. Plus, it will last you forever. (use code JESS25 for 25% off!)
I never used to wear eyeshadow until I found FLEKK Cosmetics Eyeshadow Tutorial Palette and Brush Set. It’s basically idiot proof. It shows you exactly where to place each color and tells you which brush to use. It’s the only eyeshadow I’ve used in the past 2 years.
Mascara is the one makeup item I can not live without. Even if I put nothing else on my face, I will always put on mascara. It immediately brightens your eyes and makes you look more awake. I have tried soooo many mascaras over the years, but my absolute, hands down favorite is Lancome’s Monsieur Big. No other mascara gives me the same length and volume without all the clumping and without having to put on 5 layers. If you’re a mascara girl like me, trust me on this one.
Lastly, let’s talk about lips. I typically don’t bother with lip liner and lipstick. I’m more of a gloss girl. NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Angel Food Cake is my go to color. It’s around $5 so any time I’m in the drug store or Ulta I pick one up and have them scattered throughout my purses, makeup bag, car, wherever. It’s the perfect dusty pink color that isn’t too much but gives you a little color.
My makeup routine takes me less than 10 minutes, then I just pop my wig on and I’m ready to go! Here are a few more goodies that I’ve had my eye on and have been dying to try. Let me know what you’re favorite makeup products are!
